With us to talk about SACO Bienial for our upcoming IBA Stage will be Dagmara Wyskiel, director of SACO who will be sharing the challenges and opportunities of running a biennial in a territory otherwise known mostly for the ongoing mining and extractive industries.

Doctor of Art at the University of Fine Arts in her native Krakow, Poland. Since 2001 she lives in Antofagasta, activating the Atacama Desert scene. She is co-founder of the ISLA Residency Center and the network of visual arts residencies in Chile Al Otro Lado, director of the International Biennial of Contemporary Art, SACO. She was the field editor of the Chilean Triennale in 2009. She currently directs the first non-academic Microcuradurías diploma for field curators from the Andean altiplano, linked to science, worldview and territory. As an artist, she intervened with large-format object actions Valle de los Meteoritos in the Atacama Desert, ALMA astronomical observatory, Lake Amargo in the Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica, the old Jewish neighborhood in Krakow, the British coast and the port of Valparaíso. She carried out interventions in salt flats in the Argentine Andes; in public spaces in Manizales, Medellín and Bogotá in Colombia; in London and Hastings in England; in Antofagasta, Coliumo and Castro in Chile; in the People’s Palace and in the Plaza Murillo in La Paz. Grand Prize winner at the XVII Asia Biennale in Bangladesh, 2016.
