IBA Stage: Triennale Brugge 2024
June 12, 2024 (Wednesday)
3:00 pm (Brugge/GMT+2)

Sevie Tsampalla, our second guest for the upcoming IBA Stage, co-curated this year’s edition of Triennale Brugge titled Spaces of Possibility. Sevie’s practice and research largely focuses around urban spaces and practices that interact with these. Triennale Brugge’s specific focus on works in public space certainly appears to be a wonderful occasion to expand and experiment through the collaboration with great artists such as Mona Hatoum, Mariana Castillo Deball, SO-IL among many others. We are excited to hear more about how the project was imagined and developed.

Sevie Tsampalla (b. 1977, Kos, GR) is an art historian and curator. Her curatorial practice focuses on the interfaces between contemporary art and the urban space. She recently completed her PhD at Liverpool John Moores University, in which she explores the interaction between biennials and urban commoning, or collective practices that can (re) shape the city. She has worked for S.M.A.K., Tate Liverpool and the Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art, among others, and currently lives and works in Brussels.

To have the possibility to hear and discuss with the individuals behind biennials has been a key component of what we believe IBA can offer to our members and the wider public and we value your participation through our live streams. As always IBA Stage events are meant as a moment to hear about a project through its makers and have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
