We are very happy to welcome as one of the presenters of the current edition of Triennale Brugge Shendy Gardin. Part of this year’s curatorial team, Shendy is a curator and author originally from Bruges with a background in Architecture and Journalism. We are looking forward to hearing how her local knowledge of the city and its dynamic will have informed the working of the whole team and in what ways this experience will have changed also her perspective on certain aspects of her hometown.
Shendy Gardin (b. 1987, Bruges, BE) is a curator, guest speaker and author. In her practice, she combines her background in architecture and journalism with an exploration of the representation of architecture and its relation to the contemporary historical city. Gardin also has a specific interest in trajectories that go beyond the built environment; and that when viewed critically throw up questions around transformation on a large or small scale, and in the short or long term. She has worked for the architecture magazine A+ Architecture in Belgium and Salens Architects, among others. In addition, she is helping to build a new platform around contemporary art and architecture with studio • est, and also contributes to the operations of BILDNIS_forum fo m for art. She currently lives and works in Bruges.
To have the possibility to hear and discuss with the individuals behind biennials has been a key component of what we believe IBA can offer to our members and the wider public and we value your participation through our live streams. As always IBA Stage events are meant as a moment to hear about a project through its makers and have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
