We have exciting news to end an already great year for the International Biennial Association: we are proud to announce to our members and supporters that the 12th General Assembly of the International Biennial Association (IBA) will take place June 30 – July 3, 2025 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in collaboration with SITE SANTA FE during the 12th SITE SANTA FE International.
The first independent Biennial in the United States of America and among the best-known biennials in the whole of the Americas, SITE SANTA FE International was initiated in 1995 with the title “From the Faraway Nearby” and curated by Bruce W. Ferguson. Over the years, SITE SANTA FE has developed into a reference institution with its biennial as well as a continuous presence in Santa Fe and the wider region which includes a permanent exhibition space, support structures for local artists and much more. This year, its 12th edition with the title Once within a time, curated by Cecilia Alemanni, SITE SANTA FE International promises to delve into a reflection on storytelling as a tool to reimagine local narratives through historical and current, real and imagined figures animating a fictional family album.
We are excited to share our 12th General Assembly with SITE SANTA FE and to give our members the opportunity to explore the region with a rich official program as well as a number of other highlights they will be able to experience while visiting New Mexico.
As this will be our first assembly to take place in North America, we look forward to constructing a valuable opportunity to convene representatives of biennials within the region and foster connections with our expanding global network. Through this event, we seek to develop programs and provide platforms to facilitate discussions on unique challenges faced by biennials.
We look forward to sharing more details, such as recommendations for accommodations and day trips for those wishing to explore beyond Santa Fe, in the near future.
