The Biennale Gherdëina is excited to announce its latest open call for artists, inviting submissions to participate in its upcoming edition. Situated in the breathtaking landscapes of the Dolomite Mountains in Italy, this biennale serves as a unique platform for exploring contemporary art, nature, and cultural dialogue. As the Biennial Association, we are thrilled to see many of our members actively developing open calls for artists in recent months, fostering a vibrant and collaborative global art community.
Founded in 2008, the Biennale Gherdëina is a contemporary art event that celebrates the intersection of art, tradition, and the natural environment. With its origins deeply rooted in the local culture of the Ladin community of the Dolomites, the biennale fosters connections between local heritage and artists worldwide. Over the years, it has grown into an international reference for creative exchange and exploration.
Who Can Apply?
This open call welcomes applications from artists working in a variety of media, including but not limited to:
- Sculpture
- Installation
- Performance
- Digital and multimedia art
- Painting and drawing
- Photography
Emerging and established artists alike are encouraged to submit proposals that engage with the biennale’s thematic focus. Historically, the themes have addressed pressing cultural and environmental concerns.

How to Apply
Artists interested in participating should prepare the following materials:
