IBA Stage: 3rd Biennale Matter of Art

Joining us for our IBA Stage presenting this year’s 3rd edition of Biennale Matter of Art is Aleksei Borisionok co-curator of the project. He is a curator, writer and organizer who currently lives and works in Vienna. He is a member of the artistic-research group Problem Collective and the Work Hard! Play Hard! working group. He writes about art and politics for various magazines, catalogs, and online platforms such as e-flux Journal, L’Internationale Online, Partisan, Springerin, and Paletten, among many others. He is currently a fellow at the Vera List Center in New York.
Together with co-curator Katalin Erdődi in describing their project for Matter of Art he states:
“We are interested in changes happening in the countryside, because we see rural change as an important part of social change at large. Rural areas provide for our basic needs, from food to diverse resources and raw materials. This makes rural and urban lives deeply entangled, we depend on one another. Yet it seems that the voices of people from rural areas are often missing from public discourse. Their challenges and problems are rarely the focus of attention. With the Biennale, we want to amplify this “quiet history” of the countryside, to talk about its current struggles and visions for the future.”
To have the possibility to hear and discuss with the individuals behind biennials has been a key component of what we believe IBA can offer to our members and the wider public and we value your participation through our live streams. As always IBA Stage events are meant as a moment to hear about a project through its makers and have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
