As we continue our series of guest presentations leading up to the IBA Stage dedicated to the 36th Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts, we are pleased to introduce artist and researcher Nicole L’Huillier. Working at the intersection of sound, space, and speculative thinking, her practice opens to vibrational ways of knowing, resonating closely with the spirit of “The Oracle”.

Nicole L’Huillier is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher from Santiago, Chile, whose work centers sound and vibration as primary materials to imagine new modes of being and relating.

Her practice unfolds through sonic sculptures, custom-built listening and sounding devices, immersive installations, performances, experimental compositions, and poetic writing. At the heart of her approach is a commitment to vibrational imagination, using resonance, rhythm, and frequency as tools to explore identity, agency, and collective transformation.

She holds a Ph.D. in Media Arts & Sciences from MIT (2022) and has exhibited extensively across the globe, including the 60th International Art Exhibition: La Biennale di Venezia (2024), 14a Bienal do Mercosul (2025), Tabakalera Donostia (2025), Kunsthalle Bern (2024), Ming Contemporary Art Museum (McaM), Shanghai (2023), Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden (2022), and multiple editions of the Bienal de Artes Mediales in Santiago.

Her work has also been featured at Ars Electronica, Transmediale, ifa-Galerie Stuttgart, the Ural Industrial Biennale, and both the 16th and 60th editions of La Biennale di Venezia.

For The Oracle, L’Huillier brings her unique sensitivity to sound as a portal to other ways of sensing and knowing, where listening becomes a method for cosmological connection and speculative repair.

Don’t miss the IBA Stage on August 5 at 11AM CET, where Nicole will be in conversation with curator Chus Martínez and fellow artist Kathrin Siegrist to delve into The Oracle and the expanded field of graphic arts today.

Stay tuned for more news from us on this upcoming IBA Stage event and keep following communications on the 36th Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts.

To have the possibility to hear and discuss with the individuals behind biennials has been a key component of what we believe IBA can offer to our members and the wider public and we value your participation through our live streams. As always IBA Stage events are meant as a moment to hear about a project through its makers and have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
