IBA Conversations: Co-production & Partnerships

Last year’s program was largely based around specific topics linked to ongoing biennials. We felt it was necessary to restructure IBA Conversations as we envisioned it as a space for open discussions leading to practical programs and projects. We envision these meetings as productive workshops on specific topics which will ideally lead to the creation of new programs or best practices between biennials.
As it was one of the most followed and active focus groups during the General Assembly we feel beginning from the topic of Collaborations and Co-productions will hopefully give the program a great start. We want to stress how much these kinds of collaborations could generate exciting and thoughtful projects across different institutions as well as help promote a culture of sustainability and care between biennials.
What are the key areas on which to focus for collaborations between biennials?
How can the process of co-production affect the environmental and economic impact of biennials?
How can these types of collaborations reflect on the different curatorial approaches of biennials?
What can IBA offer to facilitate these kind of projects?
