We are pleased to announce that the 4th International Triennial of Graphic Art Livno 2026 will be held from April to November 2026. The curator of the main exhibition, as well as the accompanying exhibition of academic graphic artist Halil Tikveša, is Željka Markov. This time, the programme of the Triennial begins in April with the exhibition of one of the first graphic artists and one of the most versatile artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the still artistically active ninety-year-old Halil Tikveša.
The main exhibition of the Triennial will be held from 26 June to November 1, 2026. The International Triennial of Graphic Art Livno is an international graphic art platform that brings together artists from the whole world – artists who want to share their graphic skills, techniques, and current thoughts with each other.
Art is our companion through all spheres of life. It is the guardian of dreams, the guardian of play and artistic interpretation, the guardian of identity, tradition, vision, and the builder of the future. By bringing together artists from all over the world in Livno, a city with thousand years of history, we want to nurture the positive energy of art that continually supports society. Artists often, similar to children, create their own world that resembles a soap bubble, a world that allows for imagination, the moving of boundaries towards infinity, a world in which a fairer and better future can be built. Due to its fragility and tendency to dissipate, this world can sometimes seem utopian, but in fact, without creative and critical thinking, there would never have been cause to create new microcosms.
Each of us becomes the creator or our own “bubble”, which becomes our spiritual oasis, a zone in which we recharge our batteries, a fence in which we isolate ourselves from everything we dislike in the outside world.
In this “protected” world, in normal human conditions, we become empowered and ready for all challenges, for everything that awaits us outside the “soap bubble”. The creation and flight of new “bubbles” is always the beginning of a new genesis, new progress, and a combination of old experiential knowledge with the kernel of new, upcoming generations. What kind of world will the participants of the triennial reveal to us? Will they show us the sensitive world inside the soap bubble or the often disturbing outside world? Will the concept prevail, which through originality and the well-known Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi, will be the messenger that negative changes in the outside world do not necessarily mean the end of a time, but may serve as an opportunity for the creation of new possibilities and the transformation of one world into another? Or will the soap bubble burst and spread everything beautiful and humane that was maturing within? The transcendence of the work that we experience, by observing it, will be achieved to the extent that the artist manages to grasp and channel his idea during the creative process. For the solution to this dilemma, we will have to wait for the Triennial Livno 2026 to reveal it to us.
