1st IBA Regional Meeting: Regional Collaboration of Biennales

The International Biennial Association (IBA) is pleased to announce the 1st IBA Regional Meeting, taking place in Prizren, Kosovo on October 3–4, 2025, in close collaboration with Autostrada Biennale as part of the closing program of its 5th edition.
This new in-person format is conceived as a space to strengthen local and regional cooperation between IBA Members and the wider cultural ecosystem. The Prizren meeting marks the beginning of new conversations, an opportunity to reflect on key issues cultural professionals face and to imagine what becomes possible when we build connections beyond institutional boundaries and traditional models.
In times marked by crisis, fragmentation, and limited resources, IBA believes institutional collaboration is both a political and creative act. The event, organised in partnership with Autostrada Biennale, Berlin Biennale, Istanbul Biennial, Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts, will bring together biennials and cultural initiatives from Albania, Greece, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and across Kosovo, to explore how biennials and cultural institutions can work together in more sustainable, resilient, and generative ways.
The program will unfold across two days:

Day 1 (by invitation): Gathering of partners and professionals, with a focus on building collaboration in difficult times. The roundtable will act as a regional focus group to explore models of solidarity, shared infrastructures, joint productions, and alternative funding strategies.

Day 2 (public program): Open roundtable discussion on cross-sectoral collaboration with artists, researchers, educators, cultural practitioners, and the wider public. The day will close with the community lunch and the final program of the 5th Autostrada Biennale.
This first regional meeting is an important step in strengthening the network of people, places, and ideas committed to a more open and inclusive cultural future.
